Ekin Ok

PhD Candidate in Marketing and Behavioral Science
Picture
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Marketing and Behavioural Science at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia and an incoming Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Smith School of Business, Queen's University.

My primary research stream focuses on consumer-brand relationships. In my dissertation, I explore why some consumers avoid commitment and tend to have fleeting relationships with service providers. I am also passionate about understanding how consumers' social identities, interpersonal relationships, and perceptions of others influence their decision-making, and currently pursue this research stream in three contexts: (1) The effect of romantic breakups on consumers' switching behavior, (2) Political identity and service evaluations, and (3) Prosocial gift-giving between friends.

Lastly, I also research the role of various individual differences as they relate to (im)moral decision-making.
